WHO ARE WE

‘We hate advertising agencies as much as you do'. That was our opening line to Marketing Directors when we first opened for business in 1994. Because we passionately believed that the traditional agency model was no longer relevant.  In fact, having cherry-picked key players from
above-the-line and below-the-line, we then became one of the first to ditch this artificial line altogether - and embrace integrated solutions.

Within a short space of time we’d gained a reputation for taking on seemingly impossible brand tasks and making a success of them. (For the skeptics amongst you, we even managed to raise SPAM sales by 200% when we relaunched it in the UK). We also embraced the Internet early on, marketing Profound online databases from 1995 and launching the DoubleClick advertising network in the UK the following year.

Our independent status has left us free to develop a unique way of working. Underground is where creative and planning functions collude. You'll find a passion for ideas combined with an enthusiasm for research and planning. Plus a refreshingly open, down-to-earth, pragmatic approach.

We don’t recognise any constraints when it comes to communication. We’ll do what’s right for the product in our care – whether it’s brand development, TV, press, radio, SP, DM, web re-design or guerilla marketing. What’s more, the majority of our work is both created and produced in-house. It means that brands with modest budgets get the attention to detail and quality of services that bigger agencies simply can’t offer.
